Jersey Boys
Jersey Boys has followed the success of Mamma Mia and We Will Rock You as it tells the story of a successful pop band; The Four Seasons. The Four Seasons were a very popular band in the 1960s during the period when rock and roll was being introduced to the world.
The musical was written by Rick Elice after he documented three original members of the band; Frankie Valli, Tommy De Vito and Bob Gaudio. However, Rick Elice was unable to gather information from the fourth member of the bad, Nick Massi, as he had sadly passed away prior to this. Luckily, there was sufficient material from previous interviews that allowed Rick Elice to compile information regarding Nick Massi.
The musical documents the events that had occurred in the bands career and tells the story for each different band member’s perspective. The first production of the musical was in a theatre in New York’s Broadway in November 2005. The musical was welcomed with rave reviews and sell out shows. The musical boasts a collection of award including Tony Awards and a Grammy Award. The musical continued to thrive as it opened a show in London’s West End during February 2009. .
