Mamma Mia

ImageThe 2008 release of Mamma Mia the film musical has created a fresh surge of attention towards Mamma Mia the musical. The musical is based on the songs written by the massively famous pop band Abba and pays tribute to their music and careers.

The musical first opened on the West End in 1999 and was an instant hit. Mamma Mia tells the story of a mother and daughter as they prepare for the daughters wedding. The daughter is in search of her father whom she has never met. However, there are three possible candidates to claim the role of dad. The musical tells of her search for her father in hit Abba songs such as “I have a dream”. Donna, the mother, has her teenage romances revealed by her daughter as she faces three lovers from the past. Her attempt to hide from the men makes the musical hysterical and songs such as “Chiquitita” and “Money, Money, Money”. The musical moved from the Prince Edward Theatre in 2004 to The Prince of Wales Theatre where its success continues to grow. The musical has received five Laurence Olivier Awards alongside the fantastic reviews and sell out shows night after night.
