The new creation of stage performance by Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas is currently running at the Ambassadors Theatre on London’s West End where it has been running since September 2007. The musical is completely different to any type of stage performance that has previously been seen. The performance is made up entirely of percussion. The musical does not include dialogue and has no particular plot to speak of. However, the musical has thrilled audiences and is regarded as a fun and uplifting performance. The new creation of stage performance has caused a sensation.
The musical first opened in Brighton in 1991 and quickly gained attention from America. The musical has been running on Broadway, New York since 1994 and has enjoyed over a decade of success and praise. The praise for the performances in the West End, London has earned the musical a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Choreography. Stomp has gone on to be performed in nearly forty countries including China, Japan, South Korea, Australia and various locations throughout Europe. The unique performance is expected to run on the West End until October 2009 and it is expected to continue to produce sell out performances throughout this period.
